Children's Tournament Registration Open (event is 3/3)

The Children's Tournament registration is now available online! The event is on Saturday, March 3, starting at noon (doors open 11:30am) at the Bay Ridge Prep Lower School Gym, 8101 Ridge Boulevard, Brooklyn NY. We strongly encourage all eligible (age 16 and younger) students to compete in the tournament. It's an excellent opportunity to meet the rest of the organization, practice under the rigors of competition, and have fun. If you register online, you will save $15 over registering day-of, even if you wait to pay at the event!

As a small reminder, if any Black Belts want to join us for our trip to Winter Camp (2/16-18), please contact us ASAP to ensure we can accommodate.

    Thanks and upcoming events

    We would like to thank every student and family member who came to Sunday's promotion tests. Over 30 students earned new belts this weekend, which would not have been possible without each and every one of you. The Headmaster remains very impressed with our school. The special practice was also a great success with a record number of students practicing with the Headmaster and starting their Black Belt Season.

    Additionally, we'd like to let you know about the following upcoming events:

     

    • Black Belt Winter Camp will be during Presidents Weekend (Friday, February 16 through Sunday, February 18). We're arranging a trip up, contact us for more details.
    • The Children's Tournament and Junior Black Belt Test will be Saturday, March 3 at noon in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. Registration will open soon, and we'll be sure to let you know when it is.

    Just a quick reminder for tomorrow's schedule. We're very excited to see you there!

     

    • Noon – High Belt Test for all students testing to High White, High Yellow, High Green, High Purple, or High Brown Belts
    • 2pm – Belt Test with our special guest, Headmaster Michael Dealy, PhD
    • 3pm – Special Practice for all Brown and Black Belts with the Headmaster. We especially encourage all Black Belt Candidates to attend.

    Full Agenda for Sunday's Belt Tests (1/28)

    For Sunday's Belt Tests and Special Practice, we have the following agenda at the Atlantic Avenue Studio:

     

    • 12 noon: High Belt Test. For all students who have been announced for a High Belt test (High White, High Yellow, High Green, High Purple). Event will be approximately one hour long.
    • 2 pm: Belt Test with our special guest, Headmaster Michael Dealy, PhD. This event will also be roughly an hour long.
    • 3 pm: Special Practice with the Headmaster for all Brown and Black Belts. All Black Belt Candidates are especially encouraged to attend. This event will also be about an hour long.

    Mid Year Promotion Test and Black/Brown Belt Special Practice with the Headmaster, Sun. 1/28

    We are very excited to announce the Mid-Year Promotion Test and the Special Practice for Brown and Black Belts on Sunday, January 28 at the Atlantic Avenue Studio with our special guest, Headmaster Dr. Michael Dealy. The Test will be at 2pm, and the Special Practice will immediately follow at 3pm. While we encourage all Black and Brown Belts to attend the Special Practice, a special invitation is extended for all Black Belt Candidates expecting to test in 2018 to start their Black Belt Season.

    Black Belt Intensive, 12/1

    We are excited to announce the official date for the Black Belt Intensive as part of the Black Belt Club. All Black Belts, Brown Belts, and Black Belt Candidates are welcome to attend. The class will be on Friday, December 1 at 7pm at the Atlantic Avenue Studio. You can sign up online here.

      WMAA Black Belt Ceremony moved to Saturday, 11/18

      The WMAA has moved the Black Belt Ceremony to take place immediately following the Fall National Tournament on Saturday, November 18. There will be no event on Sunday. Saturday's event is at noon (doors open at 11:30am) at 8101 Ridge Boulevard, Brooklyn. There is still time to pre-register online for the tournament and save $15, just click this link.

      WMA Karate will be running with a modified schedule on Saturday November 18. Specifically, Tai Chi will be at 9:30am, and the Open and Youth Tae Kwon Do classes will be at 10:30am.

        Modified Schedule for Saturday, November 18

        Due to the WMAA Fall National Tournament we are announcing a modified schedule:

        • The Tai Chi class has been moved to 9:30am
        • The Open and Youth Tae Kwon Do classes will be run concurrently at 10:30am

        Fall National Tournaments and Black Belt Ceremony 11/17-19

        We are excited to announce the upcoming WMAA Fall National Tournaments, and Black Belt Ceremony. Here are the dates and times:

         

        • Friday, November 17 – 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th Degree Tournament, 8101 Ridge Boulevard, Brooklyn, 7pm (doors 6:30pm).
        • Saturday, November 18 – Fall National Tournament, 8101 Ridge Boulevard, Brooklyn, noon (doors 11:30am). Sign up online to save $15, even if you pay day-of.
        • Sunday, November 19 – Black Belt Ceremony, 8101 Ridge Boulevard, Brooklyn, 11am (doors 10:30am).
