Women's Club Launch Tomorrow 10/18, modified schedule 10/19

We are excited to announce the launch of the Women's Tae Kwom Do Club on Fridays at 6pm. The first class is tomorrow, October 18! Class is open to all girl- and woman-identifying people with a suggested donation of $10 per class (WMA Karate members can attend with no additional fee). Classes will be taught by Annie Grunewald, 2 DAN. For more information, check out the flyer.

On Saturday, October 19, due to the Fall Foliage WMAA trip, the 9am Tae Kwon Do class is cancelled. Thanks in advance for your understanding. Affected students are invited to make up the class during the week.

Finally, a special thanks to all of the Brown and Black belts who joined us at the Headquarters last night for our new tradition of practicing at the Headquarters on the 3rd Wednesday of every month. We look forward to seeing more folks joining the Mastery Series to take part.

Mastery Series Launch (First class: Wednesday, 10/16)

After extensive development work, we are extremely excited to announce the launch of the Mastery Series. This special membership, open to our Brown and Black Belt students, includes access to two special events per month, specifically our monthly trip to the Headquarters Class on the third Wednesday of every month, and a special weekend class focusing on technique and philosophy (schedule TBD).

Our first Mastery Series class is this week's Headquarters class with Headmaster Dr. Michael T. Dealy. We'll be meeting at the class: 7pm, 8101 Ridge Boulevard, Brooklyn. The class runs 60-75 minutes. Remember, your class fee is included with the Mastery Series Membership.

Women and Girls Club launches Friday, 10/18

We are excited to announce the launch of our new Women and Girls Club. This is a space for all who identify as women or girls, ages 8 and up, to practice Tae Kwon Do. Classes will be led by WMA Karate's own Annie Grunewald, 2 DAN. Classes will be on Fridays at 6pm at the Atlantic Avenue Studio starting on Friday, October 18. Beginners are welcome, so tell your friends and family. Class is included in a current WMA Karate membership, or a suggested donation of $10 for nonmembers. Fall Semester New Schedule

As announced in class this week, we have some modifications to the schedule for the Fall Semester and going forward:

  • The after-school classes will be from 3:30pm to 5:30pm

  • The Tuesday and Thursday evening Tae Kwon Do classes had their start times pulled forward by fifteen minutes to start at 6pm to allow for more material in the classes

  • The days of classes and the rest of the calendar is unaffected

Studio Closed 8/10–8/18

Due to the 40th Annual Tae Kwon Do in the Mountains Retreat (there's still time for last second sign-ups), the Atlantic Avenue Studio will be closed from Saturday, August 10 through Sunday, August 18. Normal schedule will resume Monday, August 19.

Speaking of sign-ups, we still have the 2018–2019 pricing available for students 12 and under through Sunday, August 25.

Due to a family obligation we are announcing a modified schedule:

We are also extremely excited to announce that registration for the 40th Anniversary Tae Kwon Do in the Mountains trip is now open. The annual summer trip is always a great experience for all students, but this year is a special anniversary of the art in nature. It's also Howard's 40th anniversary in the art!

Modified Schedule for Thursday 6/13

Due to the 25th Anniversary of the CAMBA club, the 6:15pm Tae Kwon Do and 7pm Tai Chi classes are cancelled. Instead, we encourage all students to attend and participate in the demonstration. Here's the details:

RSVP for Year-End Demonstration and Lower-Belt Test (6/3)

A quick note asking for all who will be participating in the demonstration and test to RSVP at this link. The event will be at Trevor Day School, 1 West 88th Street, Manhattan, starting at 5:30pm. This event will mark our 30th Anniversary at Trevor Day School! There will be a makeup exam for all eligible students in the coming weeks if you can't make the event, but we want to encourage 100% attendance!
