Modified Schedule Saturday July 20 & Tae Kwon Do in the Mountains Registration OPEN

Due to a family obligation we are announcing a modified schedule:

  • All classes on Saturday, July 20 are cancelled

We are also extremely excited to announce that registration for the 40th Anniversary Tae Kwon Do in the Mountains trip is now open. The annual summer trip is always a great experience for all students, but this year is a special anniversary of the art in nature. It's also Howard's 40th anniversary in the art!

Modified Schedule for Thursday 6/13

Due to the 25th Anniversary of the CAMBA club, the 6:15pm Tae Kwon Do and 7pm Tai Chi classes are cancelled. Instead, we encourage all students to attend and participate in the demonstration. Here's the details:

RSVP for Year-End Demonstration and Lower-Belt Test (6/3)

A quick note asking for all who will be participating in the demonstration and test to RSVP at this link. The event will be at Trevor Day School, 1 West 88th Street, Manhattan, starting at 5:30pm. This event will mark our 30th Anniversary at Trevor Day School! There will be a makeup exam for all eligible students in the coming weeks if you can't make the event, but we want to encourage 100% attendance!

End of year promotion test and demonstration (6/3)

Tournament and Black Belt Test 5/4; Demonstration and Promotion Test 6/3

As we come to the end of the year, we have some exciting events coming up. First is the WMAA Fall National Tournament on Saturday, May 4. The event will start at noon (doors open at 11:30am) and will be at the Bay Ridge Prep Lower School, 8101 Ridge Boulevard in Brooklyn. Save time and money by preregistering online, even if you elect to pay at the door. Immediately following the tournament there will be a Black Belt Test, which is always inspiring to watch.

Due to that event we will have a modified schedule on Saturday, May 4, where the normally-scheduled noon Open Tae Kwon Do class will be running concurrently with the 9am class

Then on Monday, June 3 at 5:30pm at Trevor Day School, 1 West 88th Street in Manhattan, WMA Karate will be hosting our end of year demonstration and lower belt test. It's the one time a year we can all get together and practice. We look forward to seeing you there!

WMAA Spring National Tournament (5/4)

We are excited to announce that registration is now open for the World Martial Arts Association's Spring National Tournament. The event is on Saturday, May 4, at noon (doors is 11:30am) and it's open to students of all ages, and all belt levels through Third Degree Black Belt. The event will be held at the Bay Ridge Prep Lower School, 8101 Ridge Boulevard in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. Practicing the art under the rigors of competition is an excellent way to improve and have a great time, too! If you pre-register online, you will save $15, even if you elect to pay at the door. Immediately following the tournament will be the Black Belt Test.

Make-up exam, Saturday, March 30

All students who were eligible for the March 3 promotion test but did not attend are welcome to take a make-up exam on Saturday, March 30 at the Atlantic Avenue Studio. The test will be immediately following the noon Tae Kwon Do class – start time is approximately 1pm. Folks who are testing are welcome to attend the noon class as well, although it is not required.

Modified Schedule for Tournament Weekend (March 2nd and 3rd)

Due to the WMAA Children's Tournament (Saturday, March 2 at noon, registration still available) we are announcing a modified schedule:

  • The 10:30am Taiji class has been moved to Sunday, March 3 at 10:30am

  • The noon Tae Kwon Do class will be run concurrently with the 9am Tae Kwon Do class at 9am. All ages are welcome

Additionally, we have a Lower Belt Test and Demonstration on Sunday, March 3 at 1:30pm at the Atlantic Avenue Studio. We look forward to seeing you there.

MASI Summer 2019 Registration is Open!

Looking for a quality summer day program with invaluable activities for the summer? Registration is now open for our Martial Arts Seasonal Intensive! Practice Tae Kwon Do, Tai Chi, Capoeira, Jiu Jitsu, and many more, including weapons training. The program runs from June 25 through July 26, and is available with the full four weeks, weekly, and even daily rates – including half-day rates. Register online by April 15 and be guaranteed a free MASI camp tee shirt!

Starting the week of June 24th, and again for the 3 consecutive weeks of July 15th, July 22th, and July 29th, in addition to our regularly scheduled classes, WMA Karate and Mission Martial Arts are pleased to offer the Martial Arts Seasonal Intensive - Summer Program 2019.  We are beginning to take registrations for Summer 2019 now and are offering Mission and WMA Karate students the first spots!

Utilizing TWO conveniently located studio spaces in Brooklyn and over 70 combined years of martial arts experience, the Martial Arts Summer Intensive Program will create a summer experience like no other. This program is not only great for children interested in trying martial arts for the first time, but a fun way to diversify learning for practicing students.

Week 1 - June 24 through June 27 @ Brooklyn Heights
Week 2 - July 15th through July 18th @ Red Hook
Week 3 - July 22nd through July 25th @ Brooklyn Heights
Week 4 - July 29th through August 1st @ Red Hook


The program features the following activities:

- Tae Kwon Do
- Tai Chi and Chinese internal arts
- Stretching
- Board Breaking
- Parkour
- Archery [ NEW! ]
- Specialized Technique Training i.e. Jumping, spinning and flying kicks
- Grappling Fundamentals
- Falling/Acrobatics
- Kobudo (traditional weapons training)
- Jiu-Jitsu
- Capoiera
- Judo
- Martial Arts Films
- And More!

Full day (9am-4pm), Monday - Thursday, ages 8-13:  
$490 per week, with subsequent weeks $410.
Half day (9am-12pm),Monday - Thursday, ages 5-13: 
$245 per week, with subsequent weeks $205.

 

 

Attendees should be dropped off at that week's camp location. Upon registration all attendees will be presented with a detailed schedule of the week’s activities and drop off/pick up locations. Parents will also be informed of any field trips children will be taking that week. Attendees will be required to bring their own packed lunch and snack.

Children's Tournament and Lower Belt Test, Saturday March 2 (make-up 3/3)

We are excited to announce the annual Children's Tournament for competitors of all belt levels, age 16 and under. Online registration is now available, and you'll save $15 over registering day-of, even if you elect to pay at the door! The event is at noon on Saturday, March 2nd, at 8101 Ridge Boulevard in the Bay Ridge Prep Lower School Gym. There will also be a Lower Belt test which you may attend. Finally, we are also having a Junior Black Belt test for all eligible students on the same day. Please contact your instructor to determine if you are eligible for any of these tests.

We will also be having a make-up lower belt test on the following day, Sunday, March 3 at 1:30pm at the Atlantic Avenue Studio. Again, please contact your instructor to determine which of these events are best for you.
