Children's Tournament, Saturday March 4

We are very excited to announce the annual Children's Tournament. This event is open to all belt levels, age 16 and younger. The event will be at the Bay Ridge Prep Lower School, 8101 Ridge Boulevard, Brooklyn on March 4. The doors will open at 11:30am and the event will start at noon. If you register online by March 4, you will save $15, even if you pay at the door.

This is an excellent opportunity to practice the Art under the rigors of competition.

Modified Schedule Sat. 11/19 and Tournaments and Black Belt Test

Due to the Fall National Tournament we are announcing a modified schedule:

• The Open Class and Youth Class for Saturday, 11/19 will be merged together and run at 9am
• All other classes are scheduled as normal

Speaking of the Fall National Tournament, we have a lot of events this weekend!

On Friday, November 18, we have the 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th Degree Tournament at the Bay Ridge Prep Upper School, 7404 4th Avenue in Brooklyn. Doors is at 6:30pm, the event starts at 7pm and is open to spectators.

On Saturday, we have the Fall National Tournament at 8101 Ridge Boulevard in Brooklyn. Doors is at 11:30am and the event starts at noon. There will be forms and sparring competitions and the Lower Belt Test (starting around 2:00 or 2:30). There will also be demonstrations from the upper belts. We encourage all ages and all belt levels to participate. Sign up online and save $15, even if you don't pay online!

On Sunday, we have the Fall Black Belt Test at 8101 Ridge Boulevard in Brooklyn. Doors is at 9:30am and the event starts at 10. In addition to all the usual excitement of Black Belt tests, including forms, sparring, and board breaking, we will be welcoming the WMAA's first 8th Degree Black Belts as part of the ceremonies of the day. Please join us to support the folks taking the test and to bear witness to a historical event in the organization.

Fall National Tournament, Saturday November 19

We are extremely excited to announce the WMAA's National Fall Tournament. The event is this Saturday, at 8101 Ridge Boulevard in Brooklyn and is open to all students up through 3rd Degree Black Belt. The event starts at noon, doors open at 11:30am, and will feature competitions in forms and sparring. The day will end with a lower belt test, and there'll be some really neat demonstrations as well. If you pre-register online, you will save $15, even if you don't pay online. Tournaments are a great way to practice the art under the rigors of competition. The event is scheduled to be over around 5pm.

New Schedule for Tuesday and Thursday Evenings starting today

We have decided to modify our Tuesday and Thursday schedules going forward, starting today, September 27:

• The 6:30pm Open Tae Kwon Do class has been moved to 6:15pm.
• The 7:30pm Tai Chi class has been moved to 7:00pm.
• All other classes are scheduled as normal

New 2016/2017 Schedule

We are really excited to announce our 2016/2017 schedule. Without further ado:

• Tae Kwon Do Youth Classes at 4pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and on Saturday at 9am
• Tae Kwon Do Junior Classes at 5pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays
• Tae Kwon Do Open Classes at 6:30pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays, as well as at 11am on Saturdays
• Tae Kwon Do Adult Classes at 12:30pm on Thursdays and 10am on Fridays
• Tae Kwon Do Free Trial Classes at 3:30pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays
• Tai Chi classes at 6:30pm on Mondays, 7:30pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and 10am on Saturdays

Modified Schedule, August 6th through 14th

Due to our annual Tae Kwon Do in the Mountains Retreat we are announcing a modified schedule from Saturday, August 6 through Sunday, August 15:

• The 5:00pm and 6:30pm Tae Kwon Do classes are running as normal on Tuesday, August 9 and Thursday, August 11
• All other Tae Kwon Do classes are cancelled
• All Tai Chi classes are cancelled

Martial Arts Summer Intensive Modified Schedule

Due to the Martial Arts Summer Intensive we are announcing a modified schedule:

• The 3:30p Free Trial, 4:00p Youth, and 5:00p Junior classes on Tuesday and Thursday are cancelled through July 28
• There is a new 6:30p Tai Chi class on Mondays
• All other classes are scheduled as normal

End-of-Year Demonstration & Promotion Test 6/7

We are excited about the upcoming end-of-year Demonstration and Promotion Test with our special guest, Headmaster Dr. Michael T. Dealy. The event will start at 5:30pm on Tuesday, June 7 at the Trevor Day School West Gym (1 W 88th Street, Manhattan). All are invited and encouraged to attend and participate.

For our hosts, we ask that all who are going to participate please bring this waiver with them, filled out appropriately. Thanks for your understanding and cooperation. Please let us know if you have any questions.

Tournament and Black Belt Test 5/7 Register now!

Here's a friendly reminder about the Tournament and Black Belt Test on Saturday, May 7. It will be at the Bay Ridge Prep Lower School gym at 8101 Ridge Boulevard, Brooklyn NY. The event starts at noon, doors open at 11:30am. The event is open to all ages and belt levels up through 3rd DAN. Register online before the event to save $15 off of your registration, even if you pay at the door! We have several students looking to complete their Black Belt Season that day, come to compete and come to support them.

And here's another reminder: The Year-End Demonstration and Promotion Test for WMA Karate is coming up on Tuesday, June 7 at Trevor Day School West, 1 W88th St, NY NY at 5:30pm. Mark your calendars and save the date – we're looking for 100% attendance.

We are excited to announce that sign-ups are open for the annual WMAA Children's Tournament has opened registration: http://signupsimply.com/wmaa/event.cfm

The event will be at Bay Ridge Prep Lower School Gymnasium, 8101 Ridge Boulevard, Brooklyn. Doors open at 11:30a, event starts at noon. All students 16 and under are welcome to compete. Following the tournament there will be a Lower Belt Test and a Junior Black Belt Test. The entire event should wrap up around 5pm. Signing up online will save you $15/registration regardless of whether you pay via the site or at the event.

Tournaments are a great way to meet other practitioners and train and demonstrate under the rigors of competition. We also invite all Black Belts to help officiate and run the tournament – it's a great learning experience for everyone.

Coming soon at WMA Karate

We are excited to announce the following upcoming events:

• Black Belt Winter Camp – February 12-14, Gilboa NY. All Black Belts are welcome to join us on our annual winter trip to the cabin to practice with the headmaster and the other black belts in the challenging climate of the Catskills in the winter. • Children's Tournament and Junior Black Belt Test – March 12, Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. All students 16 years old and younger are invited to compete, and adult black belts are invited to help run and judge the tournament. Registration link coming soon.
• Martial Arts Seasonal Intensive – Summer, Atlantic Ave. Studio. We wanted to get the word out early that we're running our very popular MASI program again this year. Registration link and specific dates coming soon.
• Tae Kwon Do in the Mountains 2016 – August 6-14, Gilboa NY. Our annual week-long retreat to the Catskill Mountains has been scheduled.
